Technical Advisory Group on Trans Fat Elimination and Validation Meeting report July – December 2024

Overview

The WHO Validation Programme for Trans Fat Elimination recognize countries that have established a normative framework to eliminate industrially-produced trans-fatty acids (TFA) from their national food supplies by awarding  them a WHO Validation certificate of Trans Fat Elimination. In 2024, the WHO Secretariat convened two meetings with the TFA Elimination Technical Advisory Group (TFATAG) to review applications for the 2024 cycle of the Validation Programme. This report summarized the discussions, recommendations and decisions stemming from the TFATAG meetings held on 25th of July 2024 (online) and 2nd – 3rd of December 2024 (in-person). Based on the evaluation of the country applications, the TFATAG recommended that WHO Validation certificates of Trans Fat Elimination be granted to Poland, Oman, Norway and Singapore.
